Claudio Bellini

Architect and designer from Milan (born in 1963). His interests range from architectural and urban design to office and product design, for Italian and international companies. In 1990, he obtained a degree in Architecture and Industrial Design from Politecnico di Milano. After completing his studies, he started working closely with the Mario Bellini Associates practice, carrying out a series of international undertakings and taking part in research projects in the fields of architecture, and industrial and furniture design. In 1998, Claudio Bellini introduced a totally new approach to the contemporary scene of office systems, designing the TW Collection for Frezza. With his experience in office furniture and his collaboration with important international companies (including Steelcase, Vitra, Haworth and Tecno), he is one of the most influential contemporary designers. In 1996, with his father, he founded the Atelier Bellini, where he was involved in architectural projects, architectural competitions, furniture and product design, in Italy and abroad. In 2003, he became the Art Director for Barazzoni, transforming this business into one of the most successful kitchen utensil companies in Italy. On top of this, there is his work as furniture designer for Natuzzi, and his contribution in developing the company regarding the use of Point of Purchase Methodology (POP), and the creation of their concept of stores, showrooms and display areas. As from 2005, he has held lessons and conferences at the University of Genoa and throughout the world (Design Summit – Roundtable, Hong Kong 2007, ICE Conference, etc.) and his work has been widely published, winning many prizes and awards. In 2006, he founded the company Claudio Bellini Design + Design, chosen by the Spanish magazine El Pais as one of the ten most creative European design studios (Diez en Diseño Europeo, El Pais Semanal (Spain), April 2007, page 22).
